Jungle Runner
Gulf Coast's Caroline Barlow, 18, is the girls cross country athlete of the year. Here, she is seen in portrait off Oakes Boulevard Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 in Naples. Barlow was runner up at the girls 3A FHSAA championship, coming in posting a 18:15.19, 5.95 seconds off from Fort Myers' and her roommate next year, Emily Edwards. "I definitely wanted to win but to have it be her that beat me, that definitely made it better," Barlow said. "It really gives me a lot of expectations for next year for me to be able to compete next to each other with the same jersey on." The 5 foot 6 inch Barlow, who has run competitively for the past 7 years, is on scholarship for the University of Alabama. (Corey Perrine/Naples Daily News)
