ALS | A Life Shortened
It began with two fingers. In April of 2008, Bob Gordon knew something wasn't right when he felt numbness in his hand. He checked it out at the doctor's office.
He received an opinion.
Got a second opinion.
Finally, a third one. The outcome was final, Bob had ALS.
Known medically as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and commonly as Lou Gehrig's disease, the neurodegenerative disorder attacks the upper and lower motor neurons. Eventually the victim succumbs to respiratory failure, despite the aid of a breathing machine. There is no known cause.
There is no cure.
Those who suffer such circumstances are given 2-3 years to live from the time of diagnosis.
Bob lived over 7.
Despite obstacles, Anita, and daughters Lauren, and Leah, stayed upbeat while facing the inevitable. Anita cherished each day as if it were her last. Her Christian faith kept and keeps her strong. According to his obituary, "Robert W. Gordon, 59, loving husband of 39 years to Anita Gordon, fought and won his courageous battle against ALS when he entered into Heaven on Tuesday, May 26, 2015."
