Jamal Brown Sr. passes over a direction arrow in a Taco Bell parking lot to Walmart near his home April 7, 2017 in Somerdale, N.J. Homeless and in and out of the hospital 30 times in six months, from seizures and strokes, Brown needed housing. A nonprofit, tracking hospital intakes, helped. Able to focus on recovery, Brown, 33, hasn't been to the hospital for an emergency since. Hospitals in Maryland, Ohio, Massachusetts and New Jersey have started prescribing housing much like medicine and have helped people get into affordable housing units in an effort to improve their health.
