Orlando Strong On June 12, 2016, a lone shooter killed 49 people and wounded 53 in a terrorist-style attack. The massacre occurred inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, was killed by Orlando Police after a three-hour standoff. It was America's deadliest mass shooting by a single person. It was also the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in United States history. What followed was a city mourning, uniting and hoping.
